Not starting

Postby junks » Thu 27.11.2008, 09:09

So the bodywork is done & new tyres & wheels refurbed but now it won't start!

The immobiliser appears to be truning off but a bit strange as when I disconnect the battery the alarm sounds, there does not seem to be any way of stopping this & because of it I am thinking this may be the problem although it is turning over but no signs of life :(

Thanks :)

Have you checked the fuel pump inertia cut off switch?

Yes - thanks, that was my first thought having had a problem with that before on an earlier Elan - seems ok unless of course it has developed a problem

Took a while to find it though as in a difference place to my 91 model!! :-D

So when you switch the ignition on the pump runs?

On mine the alarm system cuts the fuel pump.

Not sure Bob - can you hear it as with the Elise type?? It does feels like no fuel but I've not checked plugs etc yet as I feel there is something amiss with the alarm system re my comments before
