Sandra,

Is it possible to describe the circumstances in which it happened ... gear, speed, throttle opening, type of road etc.

Presumably your brakes are sorted now?

As nitronman says you can run an FCD safely BUT it's hard to run an FCD and an Everest together safely. The use of an FCD with an MBC can be ok if the MBC is set sensibly. However, the Everest uses the MAP reading to actively control boost where the MBC is a passive device. The clipping voltage required for an FCD to work properly with an Everest must lie between the top target boost and the fuel cut boost, this avoids the wastegate being left shut the whole time (so the turbo spins as fast it can go with no opening of the wastegate). This is a narrow voltage target and it is also a moving target when you consider that boost is relative to barometric pressure and so the target voltage window changes with the weather and with altitude...

I don't say never use an FCD - I say don't use an FCD and an Everest together. If you get it even a little wrong it is much the same as fitting an FCD and welding the wastegate shut - now that's a power upgrade!

Brakes are sorted Ray (A big thanks to everyone on here for there advice) saying that ive just orded the HiSpec fr brake upgrade from Bob :)

Re: hitting the fuel cut, It happened when i picked the Elan up from the garage  Steve was in the Zafira GSI & i thought i would show him how much faster the Elan is :) (It is) Going up the slip road onto the by pass and i hit the fuel cut just as i was about to overtake him, i think it was in 3rd gear, As mentioned its the 1st time its hit it, hears me thinking somthing isnt right with not hitting the fuel cut having the everest and the Piper 2.25 :( Maybe just with it been a cooler night.
All i was thinking with the fcd, if its that touch & go hitting the fuel cut it must be marginal & moving the fuel cut up a little would be OK, but obviously not..........

whilst your at it, take a really good look at the few small bore pressure hoses that go to the actuator and the boost control valve, a leak from one of these hoses, whilst under full boost will quickly find your fuel cut
don,t have adequate experience with the elan control system yet - but a question for ESM ? is there any value in - say opening up a port size ( choke) in the boost control valve to help reduce this boost over-swing, i.e. - does it get to the point where the valve is on max duty but not enough flow is getting to the actuator quick enough to catch the boost climb ? - if the issue is marginal, and as a more accessible fix versus a turbo WG porting ?

maybe - as a trial - go fit the hose from the compressor direct to the actuator with nothing else in line ( i.e. base boost) if you can trigger fuel cut = then its the WG

if this does prevent fuel cut = ok there might be something you can do with the boost control valve ports

Been there, done that, still hit head on the steering wheel with 2¼" Peco...
