So, as you say M100 TWO (come on you must have a real name  )
it would be a better solution with less joints. We just need to be sure your set up would fit the SE elans. Could be a costly mistake if not.
I was planning on posting the SE template pipes tomorrow so if we decided on the S2 set up-
1 - we would need to ensure it would fit.
2 - we would need an S2 template of the parts you mention.
3 - the guy i'm dealing with at samco goes to America next week, so the plan was to get them to him prior to him leaving. (America, hmm he could pick up a set of rad pipes from you guys  just to add to the confusion!)

quote-
Secondly, I dont have the time (nor patience) to carry this project through , assuming we get 15 people seriously interested so we will need a volunteer to carry this forward.

ah well, seems i'm in it tatters deep now  8)

niall your on the list.

Just to confirm what Mr Two said, I too do not have a metal piece in the hose.

Why do we not get Samco to do the hoses to the same size as the SE but to include the metal part of the pipe in rubber. I think that makes sense, that way the SE boys and gals can use them as well as the S2 and Federal ones.

Just a thought 8)

Sounds good Rob. Not sure if that would help the federal guys though :? :?:

Another thing, that would be one costly pipe to produce. Now i dont mind investing in the 'money pit' but i fear the price could spiral, particularly when you look at just how many pipes we are asking to be made up.

If there are only two types shown in the manual and the S2 is more like the Federal car than the SE there should not be a problem. Can anyone confirm if the federal setup is the same as the S2????

Or I could just be talking Bo***cks for a change. :D

Heah, thats two of us.
The blind leading the blind 8) 8)

And whatever the outcome I WOULD NEED THE S2 PIPE MENTIONED, AS A TEMPLATE RATHER QUICKLY!

I'm trying to post Montys picture from the previous page (but having no joy) Just to confirm, does this setup look identical to the S2 setup only the alloy pipe is rubber instead??
Come on, put your balls on the fence :)

Would be nice, but i dont think there would be enough demand.
I've already suggested having the intercooler to turbo pipe replaced, and asked for feedback but its gone deadly quiet....

wait,

whats that??

balls on fence time

Looks the same to me, If it's not i will have already paid for the pipes so who cares.......

Count me in as long as the metal bit is replaced with a rubber bit (techy talk)

RIGHT, just to verify, what i need to carry this project forward is an S2 pipe as shown in Montys post on the previous page (bottom photo)
If someone can spare this pipe Samco have said to me they will have it back in one weeks time.

edit - and the other thing (not that i'm one to repeat myself) this would be rather costly, assuming they can do it at all.
the original was rubber , this one will be silicone. dont know if that would make a difference as far as ease of production goes?

Seems like the radiator pipes maybe all the same on the SE as in the pic i posted.

In the parts manual shows 2 other types, now if the S2 is a complete pipe with no connections i propose that we go for the one which has the small joint on the straight section so to keep cost down and both SE and S2 can use.

just been looking thru this quickly. Is there a reason why the SE has this metal connecting pipe. for example could it be near something hot??

When I get time i'll have a look under bonnet/car to find out but if anyone knows the answer???
Could the 'Hokey-Cokey' actually be what it's all about?

Mine u there was no mention of any differences in the parts manual and there was only one diagram:? :!:

That is a shame... Understandable, though. Should anything change, or should they decide to make a Federal version, I would still be interested!

Thanks anyway!

Project on hold till i recieve the above mentioned pipe as a template.
M100 TWO has kindly offered me his, but it isnt available untill the middle of november. So if anyone feels like offering their S2 pipe for 1-2 weeks then please let me know. You could then carry out a coolant change ready for winter  (as well as having the satisfaction of knowing you've helped this project proceed!)
I feel its better to have this pipe in one piece as opposed to 3 in order to reduce the risk of leaks. Another way of looking at it is that there are only 4 jubilee clips on the S2 version of this pipe as opposed to 8 on the SE. Worthwhile having this one if it is possible, as long as the price isnt silly.

I see your point, however, even though the joints are there, if you are using new pipes and good quality hose clamps, there should be no leaks. The metal tube may be possible to make in copper or steel tube, or shotblast the old ones and ceramic coat.

However one version that fits the S2 and SE versions would be preferable and that probably means getting the S2 version (I assume it was an upgrade anyhow).

I would be in favour of just replacing the metal part with rubber unless someone comes up with a good reason why not.

Also I do not have an S2 - sorry!

Thanks for all the work so far, if I wasn't buying a house I would volunteer, however I am a bit snowed under with jobs and know I couldn't given it enough time. Hope someone can help you out.

Because I don't know, is the Federal plumbing that different from the rest of the world?

Shucks, passed your place this morning Grahame :?
Perhaps i can pick it up next friday morning, or pop it in the post to speed things along?? Dont suppose theres any major rush. I'll let you decide :D
I'll check Montys wreck in his back yard for the clip whilst he's not looking, but i bet its dissapeared already.

Jack, knowone seems to know for sure. Delta seems to think they are very similar, but i would like to be 100% certain. I can still include you in the purchase but you may want to do some more investigation.

This may have to be the way forward (i'm hoping not) if Samco say the one piece pipe isnt possible or is just to expensive.

Yes, it is. Per the above picture, we do not have the metal connector pipe which appears to connect to rubber hoses end to end. Instead, the US car has a long metal pipe that starts at approximately the same place as the bit in the above pic (connecting to the hose from the bottom of the radiator). Instead it doesn't directly connect to the next rubber hose, but continues for maybe 15" through a rubber clamp connected to the front of the crossmember, then up toward the aux coolant pump. See Monty's picture on page 3 of this thread and you'll see the pipe. I'm sure the layout is slightly different becuase of the different orientation of the radiator in the US and UK cars.

That said, I'm still in for a kit as I'll make it work.
