Hi,

What is the rim spec for our USA spec M100 Elan?

Are there good selection of aftermarket rims? Where?


The USA spec M100 I am thinking of buying does not have original rims. I am thinking of either looking for used ones or buying new aftermarket rims, but I do not know what is it that I should specify.

Please advise.

bolt pattern = 4 X 100
offset = +60mm

Center Bore: I measured the hub of my Elan CRUDELY to be about 56.5mm--this figure is not published in any Lotus literature.

Best of luck! If you find non-OE rims with that offset, you'll make many here happy if feel somewhat foolish!

To correct Dougs information on the the center bore dimension it is 56,6mm (measured 6 rims)

The closest you can get to a 60mm offset is from Team Dynamics which has a light weight wheel that is 50mm offset. If you want the exact specifications for an aftermarket wheel you'll have to buy custom made rims from Kodiak or some other supplier ($400 a wheel plus). Custom rims are expensive (but worth it because of light weight) and rims that do not have the correct offset are not good for anything more than normal driving. If you do any spirited driving on the track or autox then you want the correct wheel because not having a 60mm offset will effect the excellent handling Lotus has designed.

I found some 17 x 7, +60 mm offset wheels while searching the web................ too bad they were all 5 bolt patterns

You're right! Both Mazda and for an Acura NSX actually.

thanks! I remembered someone quoting something before, but I remember it was darn close to mine. I didn't have the digital caliper I have now, and believe it or not that was the measurement from the nub with a steady tape measure . . . not too bad! Notice I did say "CRUDELY" measured.

I cheated and brought a wheel to work and measured one just to verify what i measured at home. You did real good, because .1mm (.004") is pretty darn close. Actually it's more than likely within tolerance.
