Not everyone knows a great deal about their car. In the case of the Elan, there are owners that aren't members of LEC, have their cars serviced by a garage and are really not that interested or knowledgeable about the spec of the cars.

Have you actually bothered to contact the seller and ascertain whether he is genuine but mistaken or whether he is being less than candid? Unless you have done so and established that the latter is the case then there's no case to answer. For all any of us know, he could be a genuine bloke. Remember Tim and his Pacific Blue S2 on Pistonheads - the chap who posted the wrong interior photo and was apparently reported to PH?

Or maybe he doesn't actually know that much about the Elan and is just repeating incorrect information passed on to him? Unless you have reason to label him as a BS merchant, perhaps he should be given the benefit of the doubt.

You may have hit the nail on the head there. The BBR kit is more common on the SE but there's no reason why it couldn't have been fitted to an S2. Indeed, BBR (or Morego as they now trade as) still offer performance upgrades for the turbocharged Elan to this day.

It is worth knowing that the advert I reported contained FACTS and made no implications towards the character of the advertiser, I wrote in my report that the car in 2 of the images was not the same car and offered Pistonheads a link to this thread. The only way to contact Pistonheads is to 'Report' the advert.

As for 'Bullshito' it was intended as fun with a realistic undertone. I have never known a Lotus factory 200bhp edition Elan and no one has proven otherwise. I stand by what I said and did.

Both adverts were wrong and after my highlight, both adverts were corrected. I have no malice towards either advertiser.
I have been a contributing member for 5 years and it was fun, but recently it's been disappointing and unpleasant, so you can say what you want about me but this is the last post I make on this thread or any other 'Discussion' on LEC.

I have never had an LEC member actually speak to me in person with disrespect, it seams some people find it easy to hide behind a keyboard and mouse but when in person, they behave themselves.

I really hope that you will reconsider this. People often say that no-one is bigger than a community, that no-one is more important than anyone else and that no-one is irreplaceable, but that's not wholly true.

I'm sure that I'm not alone in owing you a massive debt of gratitude for helping in getting me into Elans in the first place, for making my ownership of the car an easier, cheaper, and more pleasant experience than it would otherwise have been as an individual, and for being a really major contributor to the mass of knowledge, expertise and advice that LEC represents.

There are members whose absence would not affect LEC at all (yes, yes, I know....) and others with whom LEC might actually be better without (yes, yes, I know.....), but you belong to a different category altogether.

I have huge respect for you as an engineer, as a 'fount' of Elan knowledge, and especially as a person, but I think you'd be being a bit of a ninny (I'm sorry to say) if you let the words, postings and actions of a few nits drive you away, and LEC would certainly be the poorer.

So Mantendu, Phil, and lets hope others zintzo.

I totally agree ... this is exactly as I interpreted it when I read it at the time... and your second post which said " OK then, a yellow belt" (followed by a smiley) emphasized that...

You did absolutely nothing wrong by reporting the Pistonheads add... The facts are that a car had been advertised, it had interior photos from a completely different car, this was picked up by a few LEC members, the alarm bells sounded.. and it was reported out of genuine concern.... This was not done out of spite or any malice ... It turned out that the advertiser had made a mistake, but it could have just as easily turned out to have been a scam...

I recently e mailed a seller about a car and I have been really pissed off by being bombarded with e mails and phone calls from him ever since, almost demanding that I buy it.... in the end I had to block his e mail address and ignore his calls when I see his number flash up... Also recently another member contacted a seller to ask some questions, which resulted in a triad of verbal abuse, being called a C*NT and having the phone slammed down on him... (he obviously knows you then Jon )... please note the smiley after that last comment....

I'm a Lotus virgin and newbie member but I've decided that the car I need as something practical but fun and a little different is an M100 (the missus will have the workhorse Audi). I have been looking at the ads on Pistonheads and there are two which take my attention and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the cars?

The Pacific S2 is/was owned by markmeace (LEC Username) Feb 2008. It has S/S Exhaust, K&N air filter, Blow Off Valve fitted and been up for sale about 10 months.
