Has anyone come across this mod before?

It claims "..this module once fitted sends a signal to the ECU just like it does when it is cold, then the ECU slightly adjusts the air/fuel mixture which boosts your cars power"

This has been discussed before, I think the general consensus was that all they do is trick the ECU into enriching the mixture and the Elan runs overly rich anyway, so not a good idea.

Complete and utter BOLLOCKS! Would you buy anything from mvTITurbo

For a start, the power curve is a complete fabrication: 150BHP @ 1000RPM my arse.

Power is proportional to engine revs (Torque x RPM / some constant ~5250) so although you might see 150BHP at 5000 RPM, that's going to drop to ~ 30BHP at 1000RPM. There is no turbo boost either above 3000RPM so must be for a N/A :-D

Go to bed and save your money!

yes, it is a scam

you'd get more power leaning out the overly rich mixture at full boost, but you risk going lean and then BOOM!!, thus the reason turbo cars run a bit rich on purpose -- as a safety feature for the internals.

If you really want to over-fuel an already rich engine, then this is the device for you!

But let me save you a couple of sheckels to put towards the re-build costs..........

All you actually get for the money is a resistor in a plastic box with 2 wires on it!

Get yourself to Maplin and buy the same for about 50p!

It goes across the Air temp sensor and lowers the voltage reading, thus the ECU thinks the engine is about 8% colder and increases the petrol input.

Good theory (for the right car!) but overpriced anyway.

Thanks for all the feedback. I guess the old adage "If something sounds too good to be true then it generally IS too good to be true" triumphs again. But at least I now understand how this one works and why it is not for me.

Actually, I've got some resistors knocking about somewhere, so I plan to paint them in Elan-matching colours and sell them at Donington at 10p a throw...

Now, if my memory of physics lessons of years gone by is correct (I'm sure Corporal Jones will set me straight if I'm wrong), then would Doug use a 55 ohm resistor, whilst Monty would need an 11 ohm, and Sy would have to use just 5 ohms?

And Paul could have anything with a 5% tollerance!

After driving the red Elan with a bad thermostat for a bit (the ECU thought the car was running cold - which it was), I can attest to the fact that all it will get you is bad gas mileage. No performance increase at all.
