Weird planet we live on Just yesterday I was browsing a Summit catalogue (yes, they sent one to me in UK and all I bought was a pair of rear calipers) and came across this stuff
I was planning on starting a thread to ask if anyone had any knowledge of it? I know water injection has been talked about but with 50% methanol? BTW it seems that UK screen wash fluid has Ethanol - so many 'nol's.

There was a programme (it might have been Tomorrows World), many years ago where some crackpot was claiming all sort of benefits including demonstrable improvement in fuel consumption by injecting steam into the air. It got shot to pieces when they removed the steam supply and got the same result - the engine was running lean!

At least the ethanol boys appear to have a bit of solid science behind them.

I can't remember if WWII fighters used straight H20 or if they in fact used Alcohol injection in some of their supercharged engines . . .

According to the snow performance site "the first widespread use was during WWII on supercharged and turbocharged aircraft. In 1942, the German Luftwaffe increased the horsepower of the Focke-Wulf 190D-9 fighter aircraft from 1776HP to 2240HP using 50/50% water/methanol injection. The allies soon followed"

I think the "new" part is the direct injection into the cylinders to cool the parts that need cooling most, which is why they are claiming 100% improvement in performance.
