Missing pages on the end of some threads?

Why do the end pages of some of the threads display the message "No posts exist for this topic"?

It happens on threads with lots of pages eg Items for sale on ebay, and i think some others too.

Explain yourselves!!

I get exactly the same problem, most noticeably on the longer threads (e.g., on the eBay thread, where I get that message on the last 2 pages - don't know what I'll do when it gets to all 3 pages!). I suspect there's a calculation going wrong somewhere relating to the number of lines to be displayed on each screen page. Sounds to me like a bug in the software used to run the forum, or possibly a configuration setting.

This is to do with how the data was moved from the old site to the new one.
I think that it used to display a different number of posts per page (these day's it's 20, for all the Clemo's out there who aim to be top of the next one - sorry to blow your secret mate)!
As the number of posts catches up with the correct number of pages per topic, the situation gradually seems to be rectifying itself.

My advice is: keep trawling through eBay and finding lots of bargains to let others know about, and it will soon cease to be an annoyance!!!

Yep, as Not So says, it's a remnant of the data transfer, which buggers up the pagination. Luckily, it seems to be getting less frequent with time and additions of posts...

Yup, as Neil and Sy have explained this is do to with the data transfer from the old site.

Basically the data for the old forum was corrupted in places, and we sadly lost some posts, however the number of replies to a thead still shows as higher in the database, which is something very difficult to fix (manually adjusting it doesnt work).

So these additional pages are merely ghosts with empty posts.

I fixed many of the busiest posts but it is a lengthy process that involves splitting away the posts to a new message and discarding the old one which doesnt always work. The easiest way to fix this is to lock the current thread and start a new one.

With the ebay thread this may be ideal as most things over a week or so old will no longer be relevant anyways.

and add "OLD" to the thread title of the locked one and "NEW" to the thread of the new one.
