Okay, it's like Ronseal, just like it says on the title!
Now I've got the head into the garage, I've done a bit of the strip down and found a couple of cracks in the exhaust manifold. None of them are on the mounting faces so the question is this:-
Is it a known fault, or is it a new one?
Do I live with it, get it 'metal stitched' or scrap it for a new (or good second hand) one?
Anyone got a good one spare?
As it is easy to replace later, should i just try it as it is and then look for another?
All advice gratefully received (even if i end up ignoring it!).
On the plus side, everything has come apart easily and the head is only very slightly warped. I've got to sort it out tomorrow with a machine shop to get it measured acurately and skimmed (if necessary).

Exhaust manifold cracked

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Yeah, I had the same problem. They weren't on mounting surfaces, and didn't really look like the were leaking (much?) but I was worried about them getting worse.
So, I picked up another, it was cracked also - talked to the Isuzu dealer, they said they could order a new one (it was expensive) but it would probaly just crack also. According to them it is a common thing.
They advised me not to worry about it; so I didn't.

I have never seen a turbo manifold with out that nasty crack on the back. You could weld it up but it will most likely crack again since its cast iron and cast doesnt like to be welded. I welded mine up, but i have spares. If you weld it you should heat it up to 350-500deg F and weld then put it in your preheated oven and let it cool down slowly.
Any leak before the o2 sensor is going to cause yur car to run rich. And on a turbo car it will also boost slower.

Welded mine up (well my tech did it) Make sure the metal has been sand-blasted and then pre-heat in an oven. Then he used a nickle rod since the manifold had a high nickle content and the welds came out great!
