Stiffy for Fed cars

Hi all, I wanted to ask if anyone had definitive plans to build a Fed version of the "stiffy" downpipe/precat section. I know this has come up over the last year or so, especially after we discovered that the original stiffy wasn't going to fit A/C equipped cars. A few people (Doc Fizzix is one that comes to mind) thought they may have a go at creating this piece. Since then, little has been said about it.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has plans to build such a piece that we all could take advantage of. I'm particularly interested at this time because i'm considering picking up a used pre-cat, hollowing it out and having it jet Hot coated. I'd prefer a nicer flowing replacement piece if possible but would settle for this solution if need be. I want to retain the original piece, including pre-cat material and don't want to modify it at all. Thanks all!

It's been crossing my mind to design something whilst I have all the parts off my car ...but then of course "why stop there?" I think , why not design a whole new turbo installation from cylinder head - through a Garrett ball bearing turbo - to an unsquished downpipe?:D ... is there a doctor in the house?...

Hi Brian, please don't mistake this for a "push" in this direction but when you say you are considering it do you mean you are going to do it or you're just toying with the idea? Again, I'm not trying to push you into anything. My own situation is such where I'd prefer not to buy a used precat, hollow it out and Jet Hot coat it if I know there's going to be a better replacement part designed to do the trick. Either by you or someone else.

My problem, not yours or anyone else's of course but I'd love to know if there's a "project" out there someone's working on.

Dave M was also talking about doing something similar, but I think that would be as part of a full turbo upgrade kit.

Looks like no one's really got this as a project based on the replies. Other than as part of a larger project that is and I'm purely interested in a replacement pipe mating to the existing downpipe for now.

I'm going to make an initial inquiry into having a custom pipe made. Its not high on the priority list for me right now. But, I'll post any details for those who have an interest once/should I get some.

I'll be finishing a second stainless downpipe for those who want to do the Garett turbo upgrade like the one that Ekapol and I have. Whomever the recipient is may want to have a jig made to make more. Its about half way done at the mo'.
