Geoff i've just got a new laptop which i thought had a serial port on it - well it hasn't :oops:

just as well i checked so i will have to be one of the ones waiting for a USB. Sorry for the confusion :oops:

Looking forward to the interface. Last weekend went to the local ham radio swap meet in Richmond (80 miles each way). Just a couple of brief CEL illuminations going up. On the way back the CEL was illuminated for about the last 40 miles. I need to get cracking. LOG27 is only 6 months and 3,400 miles away.

when's the last time you replaced the CAS, Dean?? Stock up on the hall sensors from the UK for cheap while they last . . .

I've never replaced the CAS, igniters twice and computer once, CO pot once. I've been thinking it might be the O2 sensor. I bough one of the discounted CAS as a spare, the postage is the killer. I should have bought more.

Just spotted this USB to Serial 9 Pin Male Adaptor at Maplin if you have a serial version but only USB ports on your laptop

...but don't buy it! See later posts by geoffsmith and ESM for reasons why not...

Treat it with caution. I got hold of a cheap USB to "RS232" converter and it was not compliant with the RS232 spec. The output only swung between 0 and 5V (not ±) and the current drive capability was so bad it wouldn't even drive the serial interface! If someone is prepared to buy one and try it, I'd be interested in the results however.
