Dear Alan:
Whatever you come up, count me in for at least one. Just keep in mind, I'm dealing with a Cali Fed Elan and 5,000 feet minimum of altitude. Plus, I will have the PECO and a ported wastegate (in a few weeks hopefully).
Sincerely,
Algirdas

Dapinky - should have thought of that - I'll check the thread for requests and queue them according to date posted too.
The old upgrade can be updated to a switcher by the addition of a second daughter board (see picture earlier in thread) and I'll put that on my site as an upgrade option with a lower price. I can also simply replace a chip with a newer version and I'll put that on too.
Everyone seems to be after a V5. I'd recommend people consider the standard board and V4.x as a first step (as I said above it can be upgraded to the switcher). I wouldn't put the leaner fuel enrichment map (V5) on a non-switching board because I think its important that the leaner map can be easily switched out if there is a problem (failing CAS or whatever). However, the V4.4 is still pretty hot. There is also a small add-on I could get that would get you two programs from the standard board & chip and I might be persuaded to put the V5 on that too.
So I need to add the following options to my website
1) chip reburn to latest version
2) two program chip
3) 16 program chip upgrade to standard daughterboard
4) 16 program board and chip
I don't have any stock of 2 or 4 (hopefully in the future Geoff will be able to arrange for item 4 to be manufactured for us). I have a lot of the standard boards and I want to move that stock before I do too many 4s anyway.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to sit on your arse with a blank look on your face.

Dear Alan:
Sign me up for the Full Monty. Do I need to worry about the leaner fuel map since I live at altitude? Or is the original system capable of leaning out the system to compensate for 5,000 to 14,000 feet above sea level?
If I need to bring the original chip back to the UK for you let me know. If I can make it Donington, I will have it there.
Sincerely,
Algirdas

Wouldn`t mind the crazy power chip for my trackdays and the V5 for the rest of the time when i take it easy on the queens highway
Phoenix motorsports were i had my wheel alignment done is fitting a rolling road system and the NORLOG lads will be doing a group day. So i`ve got to up hold the good name of the M100

Alan,
about that feature with the mid-range crazy power.... is it more or less the same feature that you can get with an MBC where you can boost higher at mid range when the turbo kicks in and then cut the power down at lower levels before getting over the fuel cut limit?
Will the fuel cut limit remain the same on the new chip?

The V5 fuel enrichment remap added a little power, I'm in Scotland right now and I don't have the data to hand but from memory it gave around 10bhp (if JohnW is around he can correct me). Most of the noticeable benefit comes the ongoing tinkering with boost control. Its improved a lot from the common V4.2 and even from the V4.3. I now get very rapid boost delivery combined with tight control at the target boost. The days when the chip's control wasn't quick enough to deliver >0.4bar under WOT in first and second are gone (it might not hit 0.9bar but it gives some extra). It gives a more immediate MBC type feel. It could be even faster but I have to be conservative with settings so the big exhausts (bloody things) won't fuel cut with it.
The switchable PROM thing still has one chip, its just 16x the memory size of the original EPROM found on the MEMCAL so you can have 16 different versions on one unit and switch between them. The programs could be:
0) Low boost - for the untrusted: garages etc
1) Stock
2) Stock V2 - modified boost control only
3) Kili V4.4
4) Everest V4.4
5) Kili V5.2
6) Everest V5.2
If for a UK SE then these could be on for both 9929 and 9930 (which would bring the program count to 14). I also have a crazy power mad design I might put on too (basically it boosts beyond 0.9bar in the mid range, where the fuel delivery system can keep up with the fuel requirements, and brings it back down at high revs where it can't). I've tried it my car and its good for a laugh.
Alan,
how will we be able to switch between programs? Will there be a switch or something? Can you explain this to me so that I get a better idea.
Oh and how much will the new chip cost and when will it be available mate? Put me on the list if you haven't for one of these (you should know by now as I am telling you I want one since almost a year ago

)
I want mine to have that crazy power mad design please.
Remember the boost creep I was experiencing on high rpm. Do you believe I should be ok with the new chip since I ported the wastegate as you told me?
Thanks,
Nik.

ESM wrote:I've got a V5 (includes a modified power enrichment map) but I'm reluctant to issue it in the form of previous releases as it takes out the significant safety margin the rich mixture provides. What I want to do is supply a switchable chip which can be switched to V5, V4 stock or whatever. The chip/adapter I have in mind can switch between 16 banks using a wired remote unit.
So for UK cars I could put
0 9929 stock
1 9929 V4 Kili
2 9929 V4 Everest
3 9929 V5 Kili
4 9929 V5 Everest
5 9930 stock
6 9930 V4 Kili
7 9930 V4 Everest
8 9930 V5 Kili
9 9930 V5 Everest
and 10-15 stock or whatever
This way I wouldn't have to distinguish between 9929 and 9930 or Kili and Everest when shipping and if the car developed some problem it could be reverted to a safer map by moving a switch. I've ordered a few adapters that will convert the standard daughter board I use to a switchable configuration.
I spent around £500 on boards last week so don't worry the shop will open again soon. I've logged all the inquiries and I'll get in touch as soon as I'm ready to get things rolling again - be patient. I'll offer V4 in the old format and V5 in the switchable form. There will a difference in price to reflect to extra hardware costs involved with the latter.
ok now I get it how it works after looking on the pictures too

just wait a bit and I am sure will have a look on the high demand for the chip and answer all our questions

I'm working up a more sophisticated buying page right now. I'm dithering a bit about switcher prices because I don't want everyone and his dog to get a bleeding edge product like the V5 I might price it high to limit demand....

Dear Alan:
I understand your concerns. Here's an idea-Why not limit (for the time being) distribution of the top dog chips and chip set-ups to just us LEC-ers?
They don't call me a "cheeky bugger" because I have big cheeks.

I'd say it's worth double.

I think only LEC people buy them anyway - no-one else knows about them!
Geoff - I was thinking along those lines

Dear Alan:
No matter what you decide, it is still going to be worth every last penny.
Are you going to be at Donington? I still need to buy you a beer and have you educate me as to ElanScan.

You could always do a discount for 'Advanced Drivers'

- just to keep it safe, of course!

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
