Cars & Coffee

Postby Houdini » Sat 24.02.2007, 19:23

A few pics from this morning. I couldn't take pics of all the cars but there was an SLR, 10 Ford GT's, too many Ferrari's, Porsche's, Lambo's, etc. to count. I only saw one other Lotus and that was an Exige. Here's the link.

It is amazing. I've attended 5 Saturday's so far and have seen and met Chip Foose (today), Barry Mequire (Meguires Wax), Dan Gurney, Jay Leno, several Speed TV guys, saw a few movie stars, etc. It's very informal and free with coffee, bagles, donuts, etc. The lot is half full by 6:15 and pretty empty by 9. You'll see everything from a Morris Minor to the Veyron and everything inbetween. Lot's of Hot Rods, Street Rods, Exotics, Tuner cars, bikes, etc. Ford has even rolled out a couple of concept cars. A real nice way to start a weekend after a stressful week.

Thanks for the complement, mine is a 20 20 car. looks great from 20 feet while going 20 MPH. I try and keep it clean, but it has alot of chips etc. I've thought about a respray in the future, but it's got a nice patina going, and I don't have to worry about getting a few more chips etc.

Second time the Veyron showed up! It showed up 3-4 weeks ago as well. 2 weeks ago they rolled out a Ford concept car from a few years ago. It had the Ford GT engine but was a front engine RWD coupe. All polished Aluminum. I forgot the name of it, but I remember seeing it once before at Pebble Beach.

8)

You need to get out a bit more Gary.

Try Helmingham Hall in August. Selected cars get to show off on the main driveway to the house.

No, it was the coupe, kind of modern interpretation of the Daytona Coupe. I saw the roadster at Pepple Beach as well, maybe they'll roll that one day.

Russ,

I'll be in Irvine on Septembet 29th.

If you're going then I'll hitch a ride for sure!

Seems this is the continuation of the Donut Derelicts --> Crystal Cove --> Ford complex sponsorship I guess? I assume they have good insurance and probably their own security guys to keep people in line in their property . . .

It's a continuation of Crystal Cove after the Irvine Company kicked them out. Donut Derelicts is still going strong. There is also Supercar Sunday once a month in the valley. Haven't been to that yet. They do have police around, but just to make sure nobody does a burn out etc. They've made it very clear that if it ever starts to get a little out of hand that Ford will cut them off.

I'd be glad to meet you there in Sept. if I'm around. Maybe we could convince a few others to make it and have a mini LEC meet.
