Wheel refurb recommendation

Postby Enright » Wed 28.02.2007, 23:05

I have been SO lucky recently!

When I won an engine and gearbox on eBay for spares or repair, the guy was so eager to clear his garage out that he threw in a complete set of SE wheels.

They were a bit scuffed and one had some fairly obvious kerb damage, but nothing that couldn't be sorted.
Then on the way back home one night I found myself behind a pickup truck with the name "Total Wheel Works" on the back.

So I made a note of the number, and rather than trekking all the way out to Melton Mowbray (twice), gave them a ring and dropped the complete set in just before I went on holiday, telling them "no rush".

At the back end of last week I chased them up, and they said that although they had turned out OK after powder-coating, they would rather give them a further coat of spray to finish them off nicely. Today I got a call to say they were ready, and I have to say the results are stunning.

The pics below show the worst one of the set - the one with the dent (right at the bottom of the picture). But the finish on all of them is flawless.

I'd have no hesitation in recommending them to other Elan owners.
They stripped, prepared, checked for balance, powder-coated AND sprayed all four wheels for just £160.
