Misfire!!!!!!

Hello all! I'm new to the site, i'm desperate for help regarding a misfire that my Elan suffers from.

It happens when under boost and if you back off the throttle it comes back on to four cylinders, i've tried new plugs and Cam angle sensor but these haven't made any difference. It definately feels like an ignition fault, is this a well known problem?

How many miles has your car done?
New leads may fix it - they break down on all cars over time.
Have you ever changed them (or the coil packs)?

Hi, the cars done 85k, i'm trying leads on the car tonight so hopefully that will cure it if not then coils will be next on the list i expect. Are coils a common problem component? can you get aftermaket items or are they Lotus only?

First thing to check are the plug gaps. Any wider than 31 thou will give misfiring under boost.

Wingy it will be the coil some members have bought them from the US at a much cheaper price than lotus dealers

Do you get an orange Engine Warning light during the misfire?

Same problem for me last year.
I put off replacing the coils as it is a fiddly job.
Replace the coils and leads if required and I believe your problem will be resolved.
I sourced my coils (GM Part) mail order circa £125 for the pair - could dig out the suppliers details if you can't find your own.
