Can't say that I dislike it, however I would have rathered something that kept in with the line at the top of the door, may be a lower profile version which sits flush with the door when unlocked and recedes into the runner when locked.

How do they clip onto the threaded rod? Or are they screwed on?

They screw on (well it's a grub screw coming in from the side..out of site low down on the pin), the pins go on first without the door interior on and then the plastic surround has to be modified to allow the entire pin the slide up through it and two plastic bits have to be cobbled together to act as a guide as the pin is smaller than the original. Otherwise that's it!
The only problem I have so far is I can't get the screw that lies behind the pin back in!..this is importtant as it really pretty much holds the top of the door interior on to the door itself!

It can be fitted to whatever height you fancy....I like this as when it is locked it is just below the door line.
If it is too low it is hard to get hold of it to manually unlock the door.

you could spray paint it cream!
if you made a clip in metal it wouldn't work cause it wouldn't flex/give to snap on and grip the metal rod.

Unless you make one in plastic and have it metalised

Yeh, you just sit it in front of the speaker for 'Enter Sandman' turning once, allow to stand for 1 min and it's ready to serve!
Or send it off to those that do that sort of thing (involving a vaccum I believe

)

Pot of Airfix paint and a small brush

Dave
Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?
