Not a problem yet but has anyone who recently received their rollbars fitted them yet???

Deciding whether to do it myself or book it in. Looks fairly straightforward on the web instructions but i`m sure it`s not as easy as that.

PS Someone recommended you replace the fuel filter while your at it, as it's more difficult to get to after fitting.

Hi Russ,

I did mine over about two days in total. One afternoon to fit it and another afternoon to fit it again to get it into the right place again! Needs two people to make life much easier. And a good cordless drill. And some large SHARP drill bits.

Hardest thing is getting it into roughly the right position and then also drilling the holes in the right position. As you'll see from the instructions one side is A LOT harder than the other side because of access restrictions.

The instructions make more sense once you start the job than they do when you first read them!!

I have come to the conclusion that the trick is to get them leaning as far forward as possible to make putting the roof up and down as easy as possbile. I was showing someone this at Donington, as mine are still a little tight to the roof and close to the roof cover.

Overall, bit of a fiddle but not that tricky IMO.

I've not fitted roll bars, but I have experience of having had stuff fitted to my car by garages.

For a non-standard part which needs fiddling to be in just the right place, you might be better to do it yourself.

I have no doubt that the garage will fit it, and may even fit it neatly, but will they take the time to trial-place it several times to ensure that it doesn't rub the hood cover and doesn't touch the hood frame?

If you fit it yourself you can ensure it goes on just as you want it.

As a useless DIYer with some hoops to fit, it sounds like a good option to me, if feasible.

All booked in now, they eventually called me back with a quote and i reckon they can make a better job of it than i can.
