my elan sits on the drive all year round, and i use it every day
the problem i have is when its parked and it rains it leaks from the tops of the windows, but when i drive the water stays out. is there an easy fix, the rubbers are quite good but the glass dont fit tight to the little groove.

I thought this was common to most, if not all, Elans.

I think they all leak to some extent, mine went through a period of leaving a puddle of water in the driver's seat every time it rained (very embarrassing getting out at the other end) - it was strange though as there weren't any obvious gaps in the seals, but I traced it down to there being a couple of splits in the surface of the A pillar seal that would allow water to enter the seal itself (seems to be sponge-like inside), and then drip out of another split on the bottom side. I fixed it up with a small amount of black electrical tape to stop the water getting in there in the first place, I've been dry since, but I guess that doesn't help with your problem much

I've had the same problem, off course
Solved it
completely in a quick and easy way. Kind of by 'filling up' the seals.
I took peaces of rubber from my old bicycle inner tires. Folded them en squeezed them under the seals, right at the top of the a-posts, and making he seals there just a little bit thicker.
Next I also put pieces like this right under the hood seal in each tcorner and never had wet seats again
I figure a lot of other materials can be used to try and get the same effect.

Cycle inner tubes. I like that idea. Mastic to bond it, or maybe the liquid rubber you get with puncture rapair kits?

When the car is standing in the rain ensure that the water comeing off the gutter (the flap on the edge of the roof) at the front by the windscreen - drips onto the window - if it does you will stay a lot drier!

Maybe the stuff featured on the attached might be useful. I'm thinking of getting some to fix a patch of rubber that has come off around the base of my windscreen. I wonder if it might also for sealing seals where the spongey bit has been exposed allowing water to soak in.
