Rear brace substitute. What do you think?

Hi,

I found a front engine strut bar in an auto supply shop. It is used as a substitute rear brace. Is it okay?

Cheers,

Assuming it has enough length adjustment to enable you to line up all three holes on each side, it looks fine to me. :D

Rear Brace Substitute

Postby algirdas » Thu 24.05.2007, 07:18

Dear Kmckmc:

I'm a bit more skeptical. My concern would be that the bracket could pivot around the axis of the mounting bolt. One way to test it would be to put some masking tape over the black bracket and attach it (the tape) to the body. Then drive the car. If the tape starts working itself loose, then the bracket is moving and perhaps too much.

Just an idea.

Sincerely,

It might be improved by modifying the bracket to a single hole, in line with the tie-bar. It would be an opportunity to have smaller holes to suit the bolts.
