Got this last week and got the Elise up on it today. Not a two minute job to get it up and down but really nicely engineered and thought out. It has some specific lifting beams for the Elise but the chap who makes it says that if I help him to develop similar ones for the Elan I can have them for nowt. Looking at the Elan's lifting points I see no reason the same 'system' won't work. Just a case of having appropriately shaped and sized beams to sit on the the Elan's jacking points.

It wasn't cheap no. I'm lucky to have it in that my mum has just come into some money and has always had a bit of a 'thing' about me working under cars. I was quite happy with my precariously placed blocks of wood and axle stands but hey ho.

I've been looking into getting some bits made for my ramp system with the chap who makes it to lift the Elan.

I think we have the front sorted nicely with a beam going between the two sets of bolt heads with holes for the bolt heads to drop into and then they'll sit on alloy blocks in either end of the beam meaning that its the bolts that are being lifted on and little chance of slipping off.

The rear we are wondering about though. When I had my last MOT using the rear lifting point we ended up moving the supports just inboard of the wishbones mounting points as having them under the mounting points meant that as the car lifted the lifting points fould the wishbones meaning they didn't drop and that some of the weight was borne by them. Not good.

Thinking along similar lines for this would it be OK to lift along the length of the u channel 'except' under the wishbone mounting points? Dunno if its a parculiarity of my car but the wishbones are sort of flush with the bottom edges of the channel.
