Glad you got it fixed.

But that's a wierd one. If the BCV was disabled in any way (like not being connected through duff wiring), that should lead to being unable to achieve any boost beyond 0.53 bar, not overboost.

The BCV is an automatic boost control valve, controlled by the ECU. Thus just as an MBC set to zero would give you no extra boost over base level (0.53), if the BCV (which acts like an intelligent MBC) was disconnected it would also give no extra boost.

agree with John,

be sure to check sustained WOT in 4th or 5th gear to be sure you have sustained full boost for some time --this is where the overboost should show up if there!

could it be that the tiny bit of boost bled away by the properly functioning BSV is enough to stop your overboost then!! :smt102

This could certainly explain why some people get overboost with the peco and not others....

Has anyone else tried this to cure the overboost? Would be nice to prove or disprove the theory.

Here's a thing...

My elan is peco'd with a kili. Overboost is not a problem, she boosts sweet at 0.8 bar - in the summer. I took her to Donny this year though when it was still freezing, and she overboosted. Not really a problem for me as I generally only drive her in summer but maybe the good weather drivers are the ones with less problems?

hhmmmm, since the BCFV can only increase boost this seems an unlikely fix....

I suppose if the terminals were making intermittent contact (but were usually disconnected) then the duty cycle will work it way all the way up to 80% and when a circuit was eventually made you'd get instant overboost. This presupposes the boost is below target much of the time and if you get boost creep that's unlikely unless you've a chip.
