Sparkplugs

I have just purchased a set of BPR6EIX-11 , to try and cure a misfire under boost . They will not fit into the hole, and fit a socket on the plug, theBPR6EIX-11 are 20mm across the flat and the original 16mm Has anyone had this problem.

I've suffered high boost misfire problems for a little while, just turned out the spark plug gaps were too large.

Isuzu-1991-Impulse RS-Ignition-Spark Plug is where you'll find your answer. These are for the SE/S2 Elans by the way.

I'm doing a complete ignition "replacement parts party" tomorrow, as my parts in that regard are all quite old, and I've recently seen symptoms that a change is indicated. I'm going to replace the plugs, the coils, and the HT lines. I got some bog standard NGK BKR6E .8mm gap plugs from the store today, and will put them in tomorrow. However, I also ordered a set of Beru Ultra X plugs for $6/plug from Kingsborne. http://www.kingsborne.com/sparkplugs.htm You need the UXF79 (normal heat range) or UXF56 (one step colder heat range) for an M100. Seemingly these are not too hard to get hold of worldwide, even on tiny islands in the North Sea.

I'll post an update in a week or two regarding whether they (UXF79) make a noticable difference.

PS - Beru Ultra X are now the "premium" plug Kingsborne offers, and they no longer sell the TorqueMasters. "Robbie the Robot" also advocates & sells the same Beru plugs as a "performance" plug, but they are $10 per plug from him.

I never did install the NGK plugs as the Beru ones arrived in only two days. With the three items I mentioned replaced (plugs, wires, coils), the car runs very noticably better. I am sorry I can't tell you whether the Beru plugs are worth the extra expense or trouble though.

I'm finally ready to say that these new parts, the greatest difference being the 4-electrode spark plugs, do make the car run better. It took so long to notice, I think, because I never disconnected the battery to reset the ECU to default/learn. Thus it only slowly replaced the previously built memory. I should have known that. I think I'm getting physically lazy in my decrepitude.
