Fitting Antenna

Postby Gary » Fri 06.07.2007, 12:22

Help! Got a new one to fit and it is different from the old one, comes with a big bag of bits and no instructions. Anyone got a pic of how it all goes together ?

What type have you got Gary?
Also, where did you get it from and why did you get it?
Oh and finally, was it expensive?
I've been noticing a bit of crappy radio reception and was wondering if aerials deteriorate over time. I might have to change mine too if you have good results.

So what was your reason for the change - did you find your reception had deteriorated too? Or did it simply break?

Noticed bad reception, caused by it breaking off at the base

Ok got it fitted. Good job I had another car to see how it all went together, and strangely I was left with about 3 bits that I don't seem to need !!

Any improvement (other than the fact that it isn't currently broken)?

If you are having receiption difficulties, there seems to be power to the ariel via a seperate connector. So check that it is connected (just beneath the ariel itself) and also check the arial lead is connected (right at the front in the middle under the hood cover - typically difficult to get at), also check the plug in the back of the radio.

Also, there is a fuse (no 2 - 7.5A) under the hood lid for the antenna. So check that too
