I recently ordered a set of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lotus-ES ... enameZWDVW
from a seller on eBay. They are for the Esprit but I was hoping they'd be a close fit. They're "close", but not perfect as you'd imagine. However, they do seem to be of very good quality. I contacted the seller and asked him if he'd be open to creating some specifically for the Elan if I would send him a template from a set that does fit the Elan. He said he'd be open to doing it. I can get a template made that won't be exactly OEM but will fit the Elan very well.
Is anyone interested in jumping on the bandwagon if it works out???

My current generic mats keep riding forward, underneath my pedals which drives me maaaaad!
So yes, I would be interested.

my mat would ride forward too, and if you want to get crazy on it you could build in one or two clip holes in the mat like for more recent cars--then you could put a rivet or such with reinforcement thru the GRP floor with a modern style clip to hold the mat ? ? ?

I'm familiar with the "musical mat" syndrome you've both described

I get it even with mats that are OEM designed to fit properly

I have seen mat clips that hook into the floor carpet and then grasp the mat to stop it from moving. Would be a cheaper alternative to replacing mats if this is your biggest concern.
Their mats do look good though

could always poke a tiny hole in the mat and wrap some twine around the seat frame to keep it from sliding I guess . . .

That's my kinda mod. Cheap and involves baler twine / Araldite / 6" nails.

I would be interested. Would save the wear on my original ones, they are getting a little worn... Please let me know how it works out!

Mine is fitted with a set of original mats which I'd be happy to trace around and provide the dimensions for.
I'd suggest that he ACBC legend might be better if it was a little more discreet on any custom made ones though. Like about 2" diameter and situated in the bottom left and bottom right-hand corners.

Shame that their base colour is black...

Well, I can always ask about other colours. I'll be asking about logo placement anyway so i might as well inquire about colours too. Keep in mind that if you're trying to colour match existing yellow carpet (for example

) it will be almost impossible to do and the attempt might not look as good as one would hope. Also, black hides the dirt and scuff marks you're going to get on the mats better than any other colour.
While I rather like the look of the large Lotus logo on their mats I could also ask about a custom logo. Something along the lines of a small Lotus logo followed by some text like "LOTUS ELAN SE" or the like...........

Thanks for the offer Clemo. Neil has offered to make some templates and send them to me so I can compare them to the LHD versions I have. Perhaps if he's tardy I'll take you up on your offer
