Taking the plunge

Well after looking for a while I have finally taken the plunge and bought myself an Elan. I pick it up in the morning and am excited to say the least.
She is a 1992 on a k and has had alot of work done to her including
New clutch, including flywheel, bearings and oil seals
New sump,
Cam belt and belt adjuster.
Injector flush with fuel additive.
Water pump,
New custom built radiator,
New coolant circulation pump,
Torquemaster turbo sparkplugs,
New high performance HT leads,
New battery,
S2 type hood,
Larger later s2 allys,
HKS turbo dump valve & steel inlet conversion pipe,
K&N inlet filter.
Exhaust is a big bore peco stainless system.
Turbo XS adjustable boost valve. (Not sure about this I think I will remove it and invest in a chip).

Is that a standard colour for an SE?

no, that colour was not around in 1992, so if the car is a 1992 SE, then it was converted to look like an Elan S2 with a repaint, a new hood, and S2 rims.

The VIN and number plates on the car can be used to see what colour it was originally if needed.

Mark has an SE in silk red too. Quite rare.

It looks spot on with those wheels. Sounds like its had all the major work/upgrades done for you.


Post some pics of your engine bay Geeo when you get chance. I'm interested to see the HKS bypass valve and pipe. (not many of them around either if its the 'Isuzu Bill' version.

Dico you will have to point me in the right direction of the HKS (I dont know one end of an engine from the other).

As for the colour yes it is origional as I bought the car from my brother in law whom in turn purchased it from his boss, and he had it from new. So I am the 3rd owner. with 83K miles.

I have noticed this morning that the exhaust is rattling, It had the new one fitted just after christmas but has only done 100 miles since, I think the dirve back from Ware yesterday may have loosened one if the brackets, I will get a freind in the exhaust game to have a look on Tuesday.
And the brakes are SCARY! It has had new high spec racing ebc grooved & drilled discs and 'green stuff' high temp pads front and rear done last year and only covered 400 mile since.
This may be my first job!!!

Dico you will have to point me in the right direction of the HKS

Top right, chrome pipe with blue hoses on either end. (yours may not be chromed)


Brakes may just need a re-bleed. Hispecs are usualy pretty good.

Dico, I think he has the ebc upgrade but bleeding may be required, as you said.

I think the calipars are stock and the discs and pads were upgraded!

I am a little worried at the moment as I have just let the wife out in itfor the first time!!!!! With the only advice to park in the middle of the road because she has a habit of killing allys!!!!!
