My M100 has black leather seats with the yellow stripe across the back and the base.
Just above the yellow stripe on the back, just as the seat curves up to form the headrest, is the word LOTUS embossed into the black leather.
This is so faded now that you can hardly see it, but I am thinking that this would look so good picked out in yellow!
Has anyone thought of this before and if so how can it be done?
Are we talking of some kind of dye/tanning procedure? Paint? Stickers?
I am sure that I am not the only person to consider this......
....Am I!
Any ideas would be welcomed,
cheers Pete.

It can be embroidered, that is what I had done. I made an image in photoshop and sent it to them, they stiched it in!

So it is something that needs to be sent away to do, I suppose as part of a complete re-upholstoring of the seats, not something that a tinkerer can do himself on a sunday afternoon?

No. the budget wont stretch that far, I just wanted to try something that I could do myself, the seats are not really all that bad, just that they would have looked nicer with a logo on!
Thanks anyway
Pete.

I think I might have found the cheap option!
I have just bought 2 vinyl stickers from someone on Ebay, he said that there is a very good chance that they will stay stuck as well! (they only cost a few quid even with postage and so well worth a trial).
I stuck 'em on this morning and they look really good! I'll put a photo up when I get a chance and - of course - let you know how they fair

maybe Sy can help confirm or deny, but I vaguely remember someone had got made up a leather press for the original style impression logo.

...could have been me
I used the Lotus badge off the back of my car to make a matched-pair of press-tools out of Bondo (body filler), then used an hydraulic press to emboss the logo into the headrest leather - I used a thin coat of 5-minute epoxy on the back during pressing to help 'set' the impression.
I'll see if I can find a photo?...
Edit:
Not a particularly good pic, but you get the idea

I think the embossed one would probably be better, but here is the picture I promised you of the vinyl stickers as they look on the car;

Pete,
Do they do other colours?
Is there a website to look at?
Dave
Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

Looks Ok doesnt it?
No webpage as such (or as far as I know) - but he has an ebay shop at;
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Vinyl-stickers-2GO
He told me he can do any colours or size.
You might want to wait and see how my trial goes first though.
best regards, Pete.

That actually looks pretty good Pete, have to see how long it lasts, & whether it leaves a mess when starts to come off.
Another option would be to just remove back cover ( think its just zipped on ) & take it to someone who has an embroidery machine, thats all they use at lotus, set the programme & it prints motif !, might have to pay a bit for the programme ?

No offence taken!
The old grey carpets on the door were badly stained and so I used them to practise on for painting them yellow!
Basically I have read that you can 'paint' carpet if you use the right stuff, I bought some pastel paints from a hobby shop and tried painting the door carpets, this was a test, as had it worked, I would have the done the floor carpets - but........
......It didnt!
So I ripped them off and replaced them.
The chequered foil paper wrapped around a hardboard insert is all I could think of - truth be told I dont like it that much myself! However I do like the seat logos - everyone to their own though!
Pete.

Thought you were calling me for a minute
Today I replaced my gear/handbrake gaitors and stering wheel for dark blue leather items. Wouldn't mind some dark blue carpets next. I'll avoid the hobby shop

Definately avoid the hobby shop!
I've got 2 ruined door carpets and several pairs of yellow streaked trousers!
Had yellow fingers for a few days as well.

Could you send the yellow streaked trousers to Monty? He has quite a strange wardrobe.
