front lights not flush with bonet

Postby TrueBlue » Wed 11.07.2007, 18:51

got my elan yesterday

the front lights are not flush with the bonet and raised slightly in a few corners

is this because of the MOT adjustment they may have made

is there a remedy?
i'm not a mechanic but could do with some advice about what will be expected to be done to sort out this problem if it can be sorted in any way

many thanks for help here

some better replies will likely follow

there are adjustable stops along the sides of the bonnet -- perhaps you can adjust the edge of the bonnet up to match the lights

or you could adjust the front edge of the light lid down by adjusting the lifter arm's length

likely it will take a picture of the front of you car posted here to get the right help

Headlight flap adjustment

Postby gtm100 » Thu 12.07.2007, 12:18

Can't see your reg no in your avatar, I assume you have the later type pods, mine are the early "opera glass" folding type so the adjustment will be diferent.
Adjust the bonnet stop to match the bonnet to the wing and front top shell.
Add/take away shims to the rear mounting of the pod to get the rear alignment and the same at the front. The adjuster rod has a positive stop at one end of it's movement and a microswitch at the other on mine.

I think it's more serious than the lights - there are a couple of other threads on this here and here!
