Hi
I have just taken out insurance with Adrain Flux and I told them I would be joining a club and was given the relevant discount, Do I need to join club lotus or does this club/forum count?

See my post above Mark. Like us, LEF don't charge for 'membership' and they are offered a 15% discount, so I hope it's just a case of formalising the arrangement for us to get a discount. I'll try the other insurers that LEF have arrangements with.
There was quite a bit of discussion on LEF about whether or not to charge or insist on a certain number of posts before people could see the discounts. They (wisely) decided to make them generally available and rely on people's conscience if they wanted to make a contribution to the forum having got a discount. [Kitty Fiddler hat on]

Not a percentage as such, but the Pistonheads site (also free to access) gives a link to A-plan insurance - they were the best deal i could find for our circumstances - and they gave a bit off when PH was mentioned!
Similarly, SELOC is free to join, and they get deals all over the place (some are restricted to paying 'site supporters') but i think this could get unweildy to administer.
Geoff, I like your thoughts that people would be honest and throw a few quid in the kitty, but [cynical bit] that may not happen in every case[/cynical bit]. How easy is it to limit details to a thread which can't be accessed by guests, or 'one post wonders'? or details by PM?

If your friend and mine gets something out of it without contributing anything then what the hell - at least it gives us something else to moan about.

I have just spoken to Adrain Flux, they said YES LEC will count all I need to do is send in the membership number and expiry date, can somebody help me with this.

I dont know how complicated it is to do but most of the sites / car clubs Im a member of they give a member number and date of joining in the at side of each post.
