Hi Guys... just acquired 92 elan. Complete heap.. but working on it. Already sorted out windows, trim and bodywork thanks to advice given on your excellent site and am working on the brakes, with hopefully new calipers fromt the States. I live in Dubai so Lotus dealers and spares are a bit thin on the ground!! I'm in England for a couple of weeks and so am trying to get hold of some spares.
A couple of questions... I need new track rod ends for the steering. No motor factors seem to list them for the elan... is there an alternative from another car? I also faxed lotus aftersales about some spares from their sale catalogue, posted here originally in about march. I've had no reply from them...does the sale only run for a short time or are the items permanently available? could someone give me the phone number and contact there so I can call them... at the moment I only have their fax number and cant get a reply from them. any help would be greatly appreciated... from the looks of the site, you guys know so much about the elan, I might have to ship you out to Dubai to sort mine out!!

Welcome to the joys of Elan ownership, only overshadowed by the ability of the factory to delete items from the stock list 1 week before you need one!
For the track rod end, i assume you mean the outer one (wheel end) and not the inner one (part of the rack, under the bellows). In which case, you're in luck!
There is a whole thread on it (probably more than one thread) click here but basically its a Land Rover part

Any reason to expect these wouldn't fit as well?

As for parts from Lotus, if you look at the website aftersales website it tells you how to order, also it gives a link (bottom left of page) to contact the factory. contact form
This form gives a 'general' phone number, (Tel +44 (0)1953 608000) which may be worth a try??

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Thanks Dave... and others... I went to the spares website but they only seemed to have a few things on offer... nothing like the extensive list given in the earlier post in march. I'll give them a ring and see what I can find out. can anyone tell me where the nearest dealer is to Okehampton in Devon? cheers Vowler

If you follow the same link i put above for Aftersales, on the left hand side of the page is a 'dealer location' button.
This will tell you that Penninsula Lotus in Exeter are the closest to Okehampton, and gives all their contact details.

i live in torquay and penninsular have a good parts ordering department.
i would also mention that as you are in this neck of the woods then try phill web at south west lotus.. or www.thelotuscentre.co.uk phil may have reconditioned parts as well as aftersale parts.
you could also try stevieshag or any others that are breaking cars.
