Hood fitting help.

Postby Ravij » Tue 14.08.2007, 12:53

I have recently purchased a new genuine hood from an ex lotus mechanic who had it in his shed. (in plastic), and was wondering how easy it will be to fit. Will I need specialist help? or just time and patience? Any tips?
It is on a new frame with seals.

Ravij,

It's fairly straightforward, just take your time.

The pages in the manual are useful - section BK pp29-30.

It can be tricky to work round the plastic covers that exist on the B-post, these have to be slackened off or removed - some of them have sharp edges !

I found it difficult to get suitable bolts (they have to be inserted temporarily during installation) - in the end I used coach bolts because they had the coarse thread that is required.

For final adjustments there are slots in some of the frame mountings - these were pointed out to me after I had adjusted the frame into it's final position to mate with the window glass using a *cough* rubber faced mallet.

Cheers
