Anyone know the best place to go for a passengers side door mirror glass, mine was removed so that the casing could be repainted but the centre part of the mounting bracket is broken now and the glass is very loose. SJ's have the following but I'm not sure what the difference is -
DOOR MIRROR GLASS (CONVEX) A100U0205F EACH 23.69
DOOR MIRROR GLASS (FLAT) A100U0204F EACH 19.27

i assume you mean that you are certain it is the glass mount that is the problem.
to me the flat would be driver's side and the convex for passenger's side.
definitely worth a call to SJs to ask if the parts are left and right sided and to be sure the mounting stuff is on the back

My initial thoughts would have been the opposite of this Doug. I would have thought the convex mirror would be on the driver's side to allow extra wide angle vision for blind spots ??
I could be wrong - I usually am but this is the way my logic works!
PS I once had a VW GTi that had a split mirror on the drivers side. The nearest 3/4 part to the window was flat and the last outer most 1/4 was to allow extra peripheral vision
PPS As for obtaining the mirrors I'm sure they were on the SW Lotus stand at Donington for a fiver ?

I think Doug is right about the mirror being a convex one. As a driver, you are further from the NS mirror so the natural field of view would be narrower.
My NS mirror has the same problem. Lotus has them in a parts sale, but you can probably guess the next bit....they have none in stock. I had no luck from my local dealer either.
I arraqnged a temporary fix for mine. To replace the serrated 'plunger', I bought some plastruct tubing from a model railway shop. I put some blu-tack on the end which you insert in the adjuster mechanism and fixed the other end to the back of the mirror with some Araldite putty which I found in Halfords. This putty gives you just about enough time to fit the mirror and adjust it nicely before it sets.
There is hardly any adjustment on my NS mirror, but I can see out of it properly. I probably will get a replacement mirror when I find one. Not because I need it but because I like things to work properly.

This is a site in the US, California I think, but they have a lot of used Elan parts. You could give them a try if you can't find a mirror anywhere else. I don't know if they ship overseas, but it never hurts to ask.
