I was always taught that the engine should be up to temp when draining the oil, so when it comes to taking off the filter the exhaust, block and filter itself are quite toasty.

Besides, Sarah get's annoyed if I nick her marigolds, must keep your manicure in good nick though Paul?

Anyway, to get back on topic (a rare feat for me), I know it goes faster with the top up than down, but does anyone know the drag figures depending on the windows being up?

It seems to me that with the roof down (as it always should be), but the side windows up, there is little 'wind noise'.

I appreciate that there will still be low pressure eddy currents all over the place, but in the real world, does it really matter?

On my way home from work the other week i managed to get the car as fast as I would ever need it to go, and the wind noise was still acceptable (maybe because i'm deaf in one ear?) at 135 on the clock.

(The M5 is like a private airstrip at 0500 hours on a Summers Friday Morning)

Back on topic. I've just released the oil filter which was stuck tight and wouldn't move.

I'm posting it up on the WikiLEC as we speak.

Well, only two months to get around to changing the oil! I managed it with minimal fuss and mess - check out the WikiLEC write up.

No need to jack the car up, remove the wheel or other such stuff and nonsense!

I'm going to give it a go but will conduct an exploratory check to see if short arm will reach behind the engine whilst humming 'the long and winding road'.
