I got a quote through the post from a company that I must have contacted many moons ago - £1100 ! :-D

£1100 - clean license, no claims - £1100!
I nearly phoned em up just to take the p!ss!

Dave,
Have they upped it substantially, and did they give any reason? Is it related to your claim because of the pillock who wrote off your blue one?

I've just renewed through ClassicLine at exactly the same £268 premium as last year (limited mileage classic policy) despite a cash camera slapping 3 points on my licence.

I went with More Than after getting advice from this forum. My renewal premium is £186.69, fully comp, max no claims, noclaims bonus protection for life.
They haven't penalised me for my brake upgrade (unlike some insurers) as they only charge for upgrades that increase the performance of the car.
Dead cheap!

Footman James and if you are in Club Lotus they will give you discount £262 unlimited mileage European breakdown cover I have not found cheaper

BTW, I found last year that Footman James had put up my renewal price quite a lot last year, despite personal circumstances remaining the same, so I bailed out after 3 years and went with Equity Red Star and saved over £100 for a better deal.

I've heard that Carole Nash could be worth a quote ?

It would seem that although everything else has been sorted my insurers still havent been paid by the other party. Wait till Monday!!!!

Quote was due to the accident in December which AF said hadnt been settled. When I phoned the insurers direct they said it was all sorted and didnt know what AF where doing. So I phoned AF back and as if by magic it suddenly seemed OK. Maybe I'm just too suspicious!!

I'll be ringing round again to see if I can do better.

Interestingly I could insure through my other brokers for my learners for less than £300. WTF!!!!

My second car GTiR burned out 3 months ago..

I made a claim and got £4000.

I declared this to Adrian flux and they increased my renewal £150 for my M3.

They say this will effect my main policy that has 12 years no claims for 3-5 years...

I think this is how all insurers work, but it is illogical.

Most insurers won't take into account your no-claims record when you want to insure a second car, saying that "no-claims" has to be earned on each car separately, no matter if it is the same driver.

However, should you make a claim on one car, they remove your "no-claims" from the other one (which of course was earned independently as per their rules).

I have long since given up trying to understand insurance companies. :roll:

They shouldn`t reduce NCD for the policy that didn`t have a claim.

However they may have loaded the other policy thinking that you were a greater risk

Sorted the insurance company out and got the revised quote from AF- £374. I went searching yesterday and have found not one but more than 10 companies who can take £140 off AF best efforts.

£230- £240 fully comp, 10K, personal use only, and that is with just 2yrs NCB as the full NCB is being used on my work car.
