Radiators

Not a parts cross reference as such but I have just had my radiator repaired by a company in Redditch so I thought I would pass the information on. (They do a lot of business with a local Lotus specialist!!).

They offer a recore and replacement end caps if required. They also will do mail order.

Just had my radiator re-cored by Serck in Portsmouth for £80 plus VAT.

the old one was black with ac delco 120 stamped on
new one was yellow
guy in the parts store said it was a fits most vauxhall type.?
made by first line (frc 68)
also says on the box
(refs to FC 500

i broke my radiator bleed point the other day.
so i got a new one from pall matty for £11.87
the lotus part number is A100K0111S part is listed as a radiator drain plug.
i however recomend finding an another source eg renault ect

I lost the seal on my cap and was losing water out the thro' the cap when pressure was up and got this cap to replace the old one. Fitted perfectly and solved the water loss, the cap is made by QH and has FC500 as a ref. It is also rated to the same pressure as original. Only cost £3.99, god knows what a Lotus one have skinned me.

I lost the rubber washer a couple of years ago - tried a repair with an 'O' ring which didn't work, then made a temporary repair with a ring cut from an offcut of neoprene sheet (3mm wetsuit repair patch). It gave a water & pressure tight seal on the original cap.....

.....it has been questioned previously on here if the black lotus cap has the same presure rating of the yellow Vauxhall one, and i'm not sure that the suitability was ever fully proven one way or the other.......

I believe they are - there was some confusion over PSI and kPa.

BTW they are yellow to help learner drivers pass their driving tests!
