Innacurate Temperature gauge sender

Whilst rebuilding my thermostat housing i broke the temperature gauge sender. The replacement supplied by Lotus, although it physically fits, reads 3/4 hot, as you know it should read 1/4 ish. On mentioning this to Lotus i am informed the part is now obsolete anyway.

1) Does anyone know what the part is interchangeable with ?

2) Can someone do a (cold) resistance check on theirs for me so i can add
an inline resistor and get mine reading right again.

One good turn deserves another,as I had problem and members assisted me I will try and help

The sensor is under the cas housing and difficult to get the readings, the multimeter reading are 15 ohms @ *100 1.5mA whatever that means. I zero d the gauge first

I also thought I had broken sensor but the lead was not connected. The sensor I ordered but did not fit, reads 10 ohms @ *100 1.5mA
