Hello all , from Southern Turkey

Hi all
As above, greetings from the South coast of Turkey. I have been working here for some time now and after a couple of false starts think I have tracked down an Elan ( 2 actually ) here.
I was offered a Kia Elan a couple of years ago but declined then and now have found 2 Lotus Elan S2 I hope to look at soon. They are hard to find beasties, these Elans over here.

Both the cars I am looking at are a fair few miles away ( one is 8 hrs drive, the other about 12 hrs ) so I hope you all can bear with me as I lurk around picking up tips and most probably asking some fairly basic questions to all you Elan Guru's..

Welcome to LEC David good luck in your search.

You may not have come across it yet, but we are trying to find as many S2's as possible - check this link. If you can get the limited edition number, we may have some information. If we don't have a record, we would be very interested in any information you may be able to provide!

I am looking at 2 cars, one is 1996 black with a grey / blue ( Leather trim on seats but not full leather) interior with 333KM on the clock. It is advertised as a ltd edition but I am not quite sure how to check that out.

The other is green 1995 with brown interior - I am waiting for pictures of the interior now. This car has 29000KM showing.

Buying here is a bit of a game - very much buyer beware as regularly the sellers know less about their cars than one would expect.
The black one is about £5000 more expensive than the green.
Unfortunately there are simply no Lotus specialists in the country hence my prewarning everyone I may have some pretty silly questions in the near future ( but promise faithfully to search first! ).

I can probably send pictures if anyone wishes or thinks they can glean some info...

Welcome and good luck with your search. Have a good read around here as homework before you view either car, and if there's anything you don't see or find ambiguous, just ask.

The S2s are all "Limited Edition" cars (approx 800), as they were made after GM sold Lotus to Bugatti in the mid 90's. The number made was limited as they had used up all the engine/gearbox etc bits and sold the body moulds to Kia.
