Just bought an 1990 elan se turbo yesterday with a problem with 3rd gear (probably synchros) goes into 3 from 2 okish but not from 4 to 3. Car in reasonable condition but this defect is making me feel sad. mainly cos i don't know the first thing about elans. Have 2 stags & a tr6.
What are elan's like to work on? Steve

check gear cable adjustments

it is 10 times more likely a gear change cable problem than a gearbox problem, just by averages alone . . .

Just seen this,

Pls let this be my problem..

Gonna change gearbox oil,

Can anyone say which oil is best to use.
