Pre-Cat Eliminator SHIPPED APRIL-18-2008

To alleviate concerns expressed about this PCE mating to the exhaust; I , on my back porch, MYSELF, mated this PCE to a stock downpipe that I have. The bolt holes line up perfectly. This 2.5" PCE bolts to the 2" OE pipe like a Seville Row suit. This is a bolt-on part to either a Peco or an original exhaust.

Here's a pic of a gasket that'l work. The bolt-holes are an exact match. This is a pretty standard gasket & you, or your professional pipe-banger should have no problem finding one. You just want a metal crush-ring with a 2.5" inside-diameter.

I apologize if I'm sounding like an idiot here but I'd like to be absolutely sure I understand what you're saying. This is likely me not understanding as opposed to you not explaining so here goes...............

The bottom end of the PCE will terminate with a 2.5" opening. This "bottom-end" flange with the 2.5" opening will, however, mate perfectly to the current 2" downpipe flange. All you'll need is the right gasket to help bridge the difference between the 2.5" opening of the PCE and the 2" opening of the standard downpipe (or whatever you have installed.

Did I get that right?????

Justa keep ya updated Stage 6 received the 3 flex-sections yesterday. They can't do it until the 26th & i'ma gonna be outa da country in the West Indies, Dominic' exactamente. Although I could remove me pipe B4 I go they'd be closed at that time. Ipso facto the manufacture of these pipes will begin in the new year.

Todd @ JH replied today und say Sterling coat will set ya back $25. Since I'm quoting UNIT costs I jus wanna make sure you boyz nose I don't intend to be stuck with NON-unit costs like shipping & Paypal fees, savvy? Don't make group-buy seem like no-good-deed-goes-unpunished.

Absit iniuria verbis man-who-love-Elan-long-time; if you look down the gullet of the PCE of course the inner-periphery of the 2" flange shows. However the flat of the 2" flange has the same OUTER dimensions as the 2.5" flange & the bolt-holes also align perfectly. Since the holes of the gasket also align the flats of the 2 mated flanges crush the gasket tightly between them. Looky, just picture the SAME flange but with a smaller hole drilled in the middle and you'll understand the difference. Both flanges are 3" from bolt-hole to bolt-hole.

Ok with timing on the downpipe. I can't remember if signed up for a purchase on this (seperate group buy?) but if you're getting some made and I can get in on it please put me on the list.

In for JetHot coating inside and out. I like their work and wouldn't want any other ceramic coating at any cost.

I think I get what you're saying on the PCE but, again, I profess my ignorance in this area. Any way you slice it I'm in for the part - I'm sure my exhaust guy can make it all sing.

Geoff, that key seem to be that getting a custom exhaust in the us is a piece of p*ss. Hence my struggle to get enough momentum to get a peco S2 sportcat made.

Once a year, in defiance, I installed my converter only long enough for them to swipe their fascist mirror under the car. Afterwards back into storage the converter went.

If you want these added to your shipment just place G/B (G=gasket, B=bolts/nuts/washers) after your name. You will receive stainless, but NOT polished, fasteners. Always more details: Yes, I'd intended to get the top bolts as well, because I rightly assume that some of your top bolts will be rounded off. For some the studs will completely back-out when you try to remove the nut, so I'm including 2-nuts AND 6-bolts for the top, just to handle ANY contingency. That's potentially two extra bolts apiece, or, may God forgive me, an extra nut for you. WOW!!!

What did you have in mind Geoff?
This will swap out with just 9 bolts. Admittedly the first time you try to move them they will be a tad stiff, but it's about as close as you'll ever get to a quick fix, and you can even get the bottom hole (pardon?!?) machined out of the lower part of the pre-cat to 2 1/4" while it's off.

Exactly Gazza.
The top half does it's job reasonably well in the available space, seperating the main flow of air through the turbo from the wastegate flow (and then joining it together later), and providing all the heat-shield and O2 sensor mounting points.
But the bottom half is an 'orrible, restrictive big inefficient heavy heat-sink.
Happily, 6 rusty bolts at the top, 3 at the bottom, and it's gone.
