I am the lucky man who bought Hilda just before Christmas.

Flew up to Glasgow with a bag full of reddies (unusually for me I did not leave it on the aircraft!) viewed it and drove it back down without a hitch! Six hours to Berkshire, a couple of loo breaks (my age) and one refuelling stop in Staffs.

Reason for buying? Always a Porsche man, sold my 993 in August. I found that I missed the fun of driving, thought long and hard and came up with the idea of the Elan (always liked them!). Dare I say a sensible compromise??!!

Have no great plans for Hilda apart from keeping her as original as possible. I may upgrade the brakes (!) but do not plan too much tinkering.

At present she is snug in the garage waiting for some decent weather to come along. May be a long wait I fear!

Oh and she is red not pink so I will defuse that one from the onset!!

You should do the brakes, just for peace of mind.

Amazing your photography.......hides all the blemishes and the fact she was unwashed!

My Dad has is in the process of having his head ported by Mike Stewart, aiming for somewhere over 200bhp.

While I'm on the subject Mike Stewart saved me a fortune, he is a 907/912 engine specialist. Pat Thomas told me I had a blown piston ring on Elite - £3000 + VAT (min). Mike sorted proper diagnosis in 30 mins, now no need for engine change. Hooray.
