ok today i got my new pair of calipers
so i fitted them up and then i found that due to the pads being brand new the caliper hit the wheel a little.
so i filed the caliper down a we bit and bingo now it fits. 1mm of clearence.
yes i know this is a little on the tight side but when the system is fully bled up and the pads are beded in the gap can only get bigger.
try'd painting the calipers on reflection i should of used a spray type paint.
its all a bit heath robinson,
i am still waiting for the brake lines and the rear pads to come. :(
also i spored the offside cv boot outer is split is this a vaux part ?

Those are only single piston calipers! Most of my reasons for upgrading were centred around those shitty single-pistons and sliders. Go for the Hi-Spec!

i chamferd the pads so as not to run over the center section.
horses 4 corses i have used willwoods before and in 3 years i went throu 5 calipers it was a neal disc conversion for a bug.
the solid disc was 6mm thick from new the calipers had no dust seals and jamed . the pistons difformed under heavy use in the light ali body .
the brackets had to be remade in steel as it blew itself apart. all in all never again.

it may not be 4 pot but this system pulls up a 2.6 vectra and a sarb 900 turbo  301 mm discs

Funny - I was thinking that as well. Let's hope Addict degreased the calipers first and then used proper heat resistant paint and not that half used tin of Dulux canary yellow gloss that was at the back of the cupboard LOL :D

PS The Hi-Specs look really good and come in a fantastic finish - lightweight aluminium body, fully anodised and in a choice of 3 colours - gold, silver and black IIRC ?

ok new brakes fitted to the car and it drives verry well. most pleased with myself.
just waiting for some ebay goodies to come in and i can repaint the brakes in red  or black
now the back to do. i whiped off the ds rear wheel to bleed up the rear brakes and the nipple is kin tight wont budge so im traeting it to some wd40 and see if i can move it in the am..

the rear brakes do seem to be working but i think i will have to whip off the rear calipers and rebuild them due mostly to the need to budge the rear bleed nipple.

droped the rad fluid and flushed / refilled with the top qualty yellow stuff.
glows in the dark.
i could not get to the small drain of bit on the rad pass side so i removed the left hand hose after removing the plastic bottom panel. i had to grind off 3 of the bolts , only problem is that the lower radiator bracket is crispy.
can these be found easily if so what are they called ?

jobs to do
rebuild rear brakes
replace repair crispy rad bracket of repair
cv boot
fix central locking
service windows
look at small exhaust blow.
tickover seems high 1.5 k rpm at tickover when first started
starting to not start first click ?
fit clemos rear boot upgrade
repair the boot springs so the boot stays up.
 the list keeps getting longer

dico

where and how much to have your rad mount coated also will the rad stay in with the bottom mount removed ?
