If they're going to do that for you, investigate whether they would be prepared to sew half a zip to the hood and the other half to the window material. Then you'll have a nice removeable window, which is a feature I always rather liked on some other soft-tops.
Oh and I'd like to see it when it's done too - make sure you keep a note of the contact details!

and the top, + the tention wires run through the hood. The hood also tooks in behind the header seal
I`ve heard that its possible to replace the screen with the hood in situ

Only had to rebond the rear, that bit that sticks up.....
so I hadn't looked any further...
I've had a few mates that have bonded in a new screen...(Not M100)
Not the best jobs IMHO

Have you tried any of the window cleaning products (Renovo or plastic polish)? Might improve it a bit.
You might consider jamming some foam between the hood fabric and the intermediate seal, to try and force the seal out and down towards the glass.
The fabric could be rebonded as already mentioned?
Just some ideas
Good luck

After looking at the condition of your current canvas I would say to just replace it. You'll be better off

I think that wins the LEC award for the worst hood and rear screen - ever !!
As Paza says, try some Renovo or other proprietary plastic cleaner - if it is mildew, as you say, it should come off. However, I feel a lot of that cloudiness has etched on over time and you will possibly only see partial benefit using Renovo. Worth a try anyway.
You can also get Renovo black for the canvas roof which you paint on - makes the hood look like new and also blackens the stitchwork. However, dependent on whether you are keeping the car, I think LGM's advice is probably the best long term

I agree although its not fair that we spend your money

Still, by the time you take it off, pay for the new plastic to be inserted and then reinstall you might not be that far from a new roof in cost anyway. And, with your roof/hood in the condition its in, there's no telling what damage you might incurr in the process.

not to get off topic but what kind of engine issues? As far as priorities go I'd look at saving my money and just doing the whole new top. Its not really that hard to fit. I did my first one in 7 hours. the second go around ( after some wanker slashed it open with a knife) only took me 3 hours.

I've got a new roof somewhere on my project list. Are you for hire?

Galsia,
my car used to do this every now and again and it was always cylinder3. I changed out my coils and wires and viola! Problem solved. This may just fix yours.
Elanlover,
Where to and in what condition are your seals? Do you have the top yet? We can discuss further.

My dear Marie, as much as I'm sure you want to come to lovely Toronto for a visit, this will probably not be a 2008 project. I'm fast running out of project pennies as it is. You're far to kind to suggest it though.
Perhaps you can invite me to San Fran to clean your garage or something similar that I know I can do. Better be in February though so I can enjoy the warmer weather (and not Chicago where its probably the same weather as we have here this time of year).
