took it out for a spin today with no problems at all, i think i might have a gremlin, its not the first time ive had a problem that just went away. im gonna get plugs,ht leads, coils and a hall effect sonsor though, just incase it comes back.
there was no warning light and if i accelerated slowly it would rev right up.

I had a similar problem, would only misfire under load. One of the coils had a bit of rust on it.Just repalced both. One of the sparkplugs was also affected, covered in green powder.Probably dampness.

There have been a few problems which could be related to damp on the HT side which wouldn't flag up an error code. It's been pretty wet and damp recently, so it may just be a case of drying it out.

i drive almost every day, so i cant see how it could be damp, especialy when its been some much dryer the last few days. Doug, it could be what?
went for a drive today, and had noisey tappets for the first 5-10 mins
i wouldnt mind so much but the engine was replaced a few years ago, i think its got less than 70k on the clock
think i should start a thread called todays problems

Had you not driven it for a few days?
This is known to happen if it sits for a while, the should quieten down if you war the oil to operating temp.

it might have been left for a day or slightly more. this is the first time its done it since i got it in november, and i drive it most days. i can hear the tappets normaly, but its not bad and i assumed it wasnt anything to worry about, but today you could hear it clearly while driving.

Ponds in the footwell are normally water spilling over the sills when parked in the rain facing downhill!

what I'm getting onto is the notorious problem of the Hall Effect Sensor, within the CAS (cam angle sensor). It goes bad over time and causes problems and a lot fo time will throw a CEL (check engine light).
I rec you read up on this problem and how to check for a stored CEL on your car and check for it.
you say the computer limited the engine revs and this is the prime suspect

todays problem (not a big one.... i hope) but my mechanic said i need to replace the rear roll bar and linkage.
on the plus side i should have my new peco installed this time tomorrow.
HOLY CRAP theyre £175, for a metal bar!?

so rather predictabley im getting boost creep, i know the gauge isnt the most accurate but its often shooting past 1bar then slamming me forward, happened today while over taking, not ideal. so fingers crossed the pce arrives soon, or should i start porting now and fit the pce when it comes? not looking forward to trying to remove it, might just tempt my local garage to do it for me, atleast to remove it anyway.
also my bailey dump valve is "dumping" when on part throttle, not a major problem but might look into the greddy rs, its also amusing listening to the hiss build up and getting the hit of the turbo.

The way to stop the bailey from parsing on part throttle is to fit there twin piston DV26 you will have to send the body back to them and they will fit new internals to either the atmospheric, or the re-circulating body it is also quieter in operation
