I wonder if dear weet might be encouraged to sew in some extra material/protection where the hood/roof is known to wear out from contact with the frame???????

If that's the case Mr. weet, I'm sure someone close to your area could tell you where the extra piece(s) would be attached. But, as I'm sure you've noticed, there's likely to be a few people interested in a new hood/roof. Sooo.....what's it going to cost and what kind of quantity discount might you consider offering the gang here for a large group buy????

Just glue about a 12" length of old seatbelt on the inside between the cross braces and you'll never have a problem.

How much for just the hood not fitted in black?
If the price is ok could I collect mid April e.g. Malvern show?

That sounds do-able. I'll work on my respray first and get in touch. Cheers.

bearing in mind these hoods cost £358ish (plus delivery and maybe VAT) - £450 fitted sounds good.

Are you doing this yourself or somewhere local?

I wonder whether Weet could 'design in' a zip-in/zip-out rear screen for ease of replacement - like the MGFs have. (I think those boys can even use a glass rear screen.....)

That could be a nice idea. Could also be another leaky spot, though.

Don't know yet, I have a mate with a bodyshop who would do it and do a good job but I have sprayed GRP myslef before. Like many have said, the secret to success is in the prep.............it is just very very tedious!

If I could get the right shade of red in 2k paint, I'd do it at home. As a paint sprayer (who used to work at one of the Morris factories nearby) once told me.... 'these new (to him anyway) paints are designed to be sprayed by robots, not a skilled workforce'.

He inspected my first complete respray and seemed surprised at the finish straight out of the gun, no colour sanding or clear coat.

We'll see how brave I feel when the time comes :D
