How the hell did you get that quote! They quoted me over 400 on last renenwal. To be honest felt they were taking the proverbial, I'm only paying 740 on the Porsche GT3. The Elan is off road at present but it'll be going back on in the next month or so, & I'll be looking around for other quotes. I'm after an agreed value policy as the car only has 18k miles on it, limited mileage.

Seems from posts on here FJ is the best option, so looks like some hard negotiating with them is ahead.

I spent hours on the net getting the best quote I could, but nothing beat my existing insurers (MoreThan - see my post dated 16/3/06 on this thread). They are of course Royal & Sun Alliance which Stevie got through Adrian Flux. As has been said before, age and location come into it (I'm a crumblie living in the country!).

Hi,

I have just bought Ed S's Elan off here.

I have just insured it through Adrian Flux for £180 - agreed valuation, 5000miles a year and I am 32yrs old - Bargain

That is only £30 a year more than I was paying on an old VW Karmann Ghia which I have just sold, that had a 0-60 of, well........forever :-D

When i got the Elan i spent a day looking for insurance .Because its a second car i had to start with out no claims which is expensive

But in the end i rang up the AA insurance which mirror you no claims onto your second policy this was a more acceptable price :-D

Hope this is of some help if anyone is insuring two cars.

If your Elan is your second car, you are better off looking into Classic Insurance, rather than 'normal' car insurance. The Classic policies that I have had in the past do not take no claims bonuses into account.

When I insured my Elan, the cheapest that came up on confused.com was £350, compared to the £180 I am paying with Adrian Flux.

As I registered our elan in my wifes name, I got it insured through Diamond Insurance. £218 with a £150 excess, 5000 miles a year and business use, oh and I nearly forgot £300 handbag cover. :lol:

Really strange, Adrian Flux just quoted me £310 against ClassicLine's £273, said it was because it isn't garaged although even he was surprised at the difference between that quote & Paul's ?

Guys,
I was amazed when I moved here 4 years ago, the insurance on my daily drive dropped by about £200 a year IIIRC :shock:

....and long may it last! :lol:

I've got the schedule for the Elan infront of me now. The total premium actually comes to £138....the additional was for Mr Flux!
