Hi ,
Can someone please tell me if it's worth removing the "cat" after M.o.T as I already have a s/s system and it sounds like a mini!??

I don't know what bore or make the system is yet.
Who supplies the new Chip?

Mike,

Do you have an S2? The SE's do not have a cat but they do have a pre-cat housing. You want ElanChips - as developed by our very own ESM.

Interestingly, my S2 has passed a few MoT's and I have neither pre-cat nor main cat.

Thank's for that Geoff I wondered if I could get away with just a bit of pipe where the "CAT" is , My car is a s2 but will it require a diferent chip to allow for de-catting?
Does yours sound "sporty"< nudge nudge.>

Mike,

The S2 requires a different chip to the SE because the former has an O2 sensor in the exhaust system. SE's do not (Except Enright's, which he fitted himself).

Rip is correct. No change required, unless you fancy a few extra horses and have upgraded your brakes

I have a Peco which has a free flowing silencer so the pipes sound very 'safe'. I don't think the catless OEM pipe will sound very different - unbeknown to me, mine was catless when I bought it and it sounded very 'unsafe' compared to the Peco.

Hi Geoff, I don't know the make of my system, but it is S/Steel from the cat back and yes I could always use a bit more power!
I do intend to upgrade my brakes as a matter of course. Hopefully the system I have will turn out to be a "Peco" as I have used their gear on cars in the past and always been impressed.Cheers MIKE
