I'm after a little advice...
When it comes to a respray...
Is it better to remove each and every panel...
or leave it as is...
This sernario is for two cars...
Ine staying the same colour with light Gel coat cracks....
and one for a total colour change..
What sort of cost would you expect to pay...

For the best respray it`s got to be remove as many panels as poss but this is going to be down to cost
On the colour change, if your after a propper job then you will need to do the bulkhead which will mean an engine and other bits being removed.
If your not to bothered then just remove the clam have that painted with the rest of the car.
I suppose if you want to get a respray cheaper is to do as much work as possible ie remove the panels yourself and maybe even do some prep work

Then maybe trailer the car to the paint shop
Surferphil is the man for advice.

As I understand it for a normal respray i.e. just the outside, and not painting any shut lines, only the horizontal panels are removed. Doors etc tend to be left on, and the removed panels sprayed in a vertical position.

not that i am a fan on non full resprays in different colours
eg green car resprayed blue..
but i feel its maybe more exceptable in the car was a white car to start with...
i too am going to get mine resprayed maybe this year.
i am going to do most of the prep work myself.
removing all the rubbers, lights, engine, interior.
£1500 for a silver respray i have been quoted.
stevo's done lambo orange.. it will be at donnie next week.

You get what you pay for
But as Clemo says, if you can do all the prep work yourself you will save ££'s.

I just finished getting my M100 painted in it's original colour. I did as much work myself as I could and the local bodyshop primed and painted it.
The clearcoat was blistering on the horiz. surfaces so I 400 grit sanded all the clearcoat off the horiz. and only roughened up the clearcoat on the vert.
I removed all the removable body panels and had them painted seperately as the 15-odd pieces would not fit in the booth with the car.
The colours matched perfectly and it looks fabulous.
It should take about 50 hours of your own time but if you are like me, you might be able to strech it out to 125 hours.
The mirors were so difficult to get off that I left them on.
A big problem with fibergalss vs steel is that the car should be grounded as the paint is a mist and static electricity can move the mist around before it hits the body. Fiberglass usually leeds to a disgruntled painter and not as perfect paint as steel.
The VARI panels are 10x better glass than my Europa's choppergun sprayed fibergalss.
When you replace the topshell, think carefully about how the bumper and doorgaps work as there is a fair bit of room to adjust up/down front/back etc. and make perfect.

There's zero visible mods so it looks no different than they did when new but I'll try to get a pix in the next week or two.
There's little excitement to driving around here so for the most part bicycles are my daily drivers and all my cars are toys and due to weather I am holding back on licencing the M100 for a little while.
Still looking for a type 110 Lotus but they seem to be very rare.
