EGR- Exhaust gas recirculation
Any ideas what it does. Someone has mentioned putting a little blanking plate to stop the hot gases being returned. Making your engine run better, especially at cruising speed.
I think it's something to do with cars running better when it's colder and this fools it into thinking this.
Would need to be removed for MOT's due to emissions.

It seems like a token gesture at recycling a bit of un-burnt fuel at a time when you wouldn’t notice, and saving petrol.

It's actually a method of reducing the NOx emissions and probably doesn't affect our engines performance significantly. See the Big Wiki.
