he did have a blown gasket. Fixed now. Interesting side note, with the new HG we had to retard the ignition timing to stop a nasty knock issue. Before the HG failure, no issue. I think the coolant in the cylinders was allowing for the advanced timing. My car has a similar timing issue resolved by retarding the spark.

Really nice car there. Do they have that in a Kyosho Mini-Z size?

Ok you found me here :-)

Long time no see. Too bad there is no Mini-Z version of this car.

They made only Lotus Europa body.

A bit off topic, Surakung and I used to race R/C a while back every weekend. We setup the course early Friday night and had ~20 cars racing there until ~5 am. Good time back then.

It's been a loooong time since I've seen you. Shawn told me about you and your car. Looks really nice. I like the new wheels you put on too. The yellow stripes was not helping, 555.

Anyway, shoot me an email(surakung@gmail.com)and we all can meet up sometime.

Different head gasket thickness = different compression ratio = different point of onset of knock. Same for more boost.

Thank you Nitroman. From the picture, it looks like a quality tank.

I would like to get something similar to the original design but in aluminum. For some reason, I like it rectangular.

why not, haven't you heard..."Suspension Tuned by Lotus" plus, it's rear biased at a 57/43 split and not like you can drift your M100 without the e-brake :D

Uhu. I've driven an RS. There's NO comparison in handling or acceleration. One word: weight. The laws of physics weren't made by, and can't be altered by, man.

Double posting, also in Engine thread. A little warning for those who browse my thread :)

replaced with a HG (none Lotus) and head bolts came loose whilst on track

L.G. wrote: is it worth buying the "head gasket set"? Or is that for rebuilding the engine?

Watch out guys!! I've just had the 2nd HG job done after replacing the 1st (17 years) only 1 month. The 17 years HG came off in one piece VS 1 month old came off in pieces, and I wasn't even pushing.

I don't know where my conversion set came from, since I got them with the car, the previous owner must have bought them aftermarket. I'm sure he doesn't know how good they are. Comparing the OEM HG and the aftermarket just by eye-balling them and you can see HUGE difference in quality. Certainly 1 month is not a long life for them.

Stick with your OEM parts when it comes for your HG please.

Let me have my pipe dream!!! i'm not sure exactly what the m100 weighs but the RS is only 2700lbs. i think the lotus is around 2400-2500lbs and it's not like i'm sitting on a stock RS. i have done some work to it (Tbird, 1.8 cams, .050" over, 9.4:1 compression, etc).

and if math doesn't lie then the RS isn't far in the power to weight ratio (2450/160=15.3lbs/hp vs 2732/160=17.1lbs/hp ). i would love to cruise with you boys though!!!!

i wouldn't even bother turning my car on to Lotus Girl Marie and Ekapol for fear of just getting my ASS KICK hands down!!!

and personally, i'm just here to make flanges :-D
