OK, this is a goer, but I need someone to step up to the plate and collect funds and see this through to the end, for me as I'm going to be MIA for some time to come.
The source is 100% reliable (I have had several high-cost items from him for myself and group buys in the past).
It's just a case of collecting payments, transferring one lump sum of cash (to save on you all having to pay transfer fees separately) taking collection and onwards despatch.

Who is up for it?

I have too much on my plate already to take on anything else at the moment, but I think we need both a UK and US co-ordinator to take this forward, as it doesn't make much sense to have the cash collected in the UK from the US or we'll hit a double exchange rate cost, and same for delivery.

UK
1. Nige in @ £65
2. theelanman in @ £65
3. dermotbell in @ £65
4. rip in @ £65
5. Gareth in @ £65
6. Ailwyn in @ £65
7. Ailwyn in @ £65

US
1. Elanlover in @ £65
2. Matt RI In @ 65
3. redvette6327 in @ £65

Undecided
1. Bernacchi
2. theelanman (2nd set only to make the numbers up if necessary)
3. drasicjazz (maybe)
4. Ekapol (one left and one right please )

Can you please check that if you are signed up I have allocated you to the correct group.

For those undecided, can you please either sign up under the correct group or remove yourselves from the list.

Thanks

I've agreed to co-ordinate this buy as Sy has requested. The UK (and possibly Europe) will be relatively straightforward but the US may need a seperate co-ordinator as Ailwyn has already noted, unless anyone from the US is in the UK at some stage and could take them back with them (I have someone in mind).

Well, there's one minor issue with the US goup. 2/3's of it is Canadian  Unless there's an invasion goign on that I don't know about. Of course, last time the US tried to invade Canada in 1812 we kicked their butt's pretty badly.

Not sure what kind of c-ordinating would be required here. Doesn't make sense to me to ship everything to Canada or the US then redistribute across another border. Redvette and I live pretty far away so there's no drop off possible.

Having never been a "co-ordinator", what would be involved????

Being a co-ordinator means you collect the money, send the payment to the supplier, receive the goods, forward the goods on.

The reason for a co-ordinator in the US/Canada is, I presume, onward postage from Canada to the US or vice versa will be cheaper than sending the individual packages from the UK for that side of the pond.

These parts, if I understand correctly will come from somewhere else, so it would seem to be wiser to have the US/Canada shipment sent separately from the UK/Europe shipment.

I'm happy to volunteer however, I'm not entirely sure it will be cheaper to consolidate then break out the NA shipment. Regardless, I'm in for co-ordinating for the United Sates of Canada :D

Sure. If someone else produces them I'll accept the monies paid. Mighty generous of ya!

OK we're up and running with this. The supplier has contacted me and advised that he expects 10 sets to be ready around 20 May give or take a day or 2. Now rge the sharp eyed amongst you will have noticed that there are 12 names on the list  . I will ask the supplier if it is possible to make an additional 2 sets so noone is dissappointed, I'll post when I know.

Looking at the list of names and seeing that at least 2 of the US/Canadian recipients are hoping to make it to Hethel in Sep, how does the idea of a collect sound for the US/Canadian order? For those not at Hethel I ask that they be posted internally once hand carried back to the US/Canada. If people don't want to wait until Sep then ok but it seems easier to me.

The price is £65 per set and I'll work out what the costs are and spread it evenly unless any particular despatch method costs more in which case costs will be pro-rata at cost.

I'll PM each of you in the next few days with a breakdown of costs and the best (cheapest) way of paying, I'll look for the method with the lowest overall cost.

Any questions then come back to me.

Nige, I can't speak for everyone in NA but my preference would be to pay to have them shipped as soon as they are ready. If we wait until the Sept. event it'll probably be October before people get their's and that's satrting to get close to the time I (for one) put the car to bed for the winter.

Unless you are strictly talking about sending the cash??????

Firstly the supplier tells me that 12 sets will not be a problem, so I'm pleased to say that no one on the list will be disappointed. Secondly, as I think it unreasonable to change the order quantity again at this stage I'm taking it upon my self to firmly declare the list closed for this order. However I don't rule out the possibility of a second order at a later stage, that is not my call though and will depend entirely on the supplier.

As for payment I will be asking (details to follow via PM) each of you to pay me the £65 for each pair of escutcheons and at this stage a pro-rata share of the £21 it will cost to transfer the entire payment to the supplier via bank transfer (the cheapest method) this means that the cost of a pair of escutcheons is £66.75 including the transfer fee but excluding any additional onward shipment costs, these will have to be worked out individually.

I aim to PM each of you by the end of the coming weekend with the necessary details for paying me, I'm happy with a bank transfer, a cheque drawn in UK currency or even good old fashioned cash (£ Sterling only though). I ask for prompt payment as the banks hang onto the money for 5 days or so and I wish to pay the supplier once he confirms the escutcheons are ready. I will take delivery of all 12 sets and resdistribute by the best means, if you can wait this will be cheap, if you would like them sooner then no problem I will ship them to you at cost.

Any questions then come back to me.
