For you multiple car owners I know FJ can do a combined package deal.

Don't quote me as I don't 100% know the facts but I think if you have 2 (or 3) classics and one modern you can insure the lot for around £800.

You probably also need to be an old bstd though :-*

I think that is fairly standard with FJ isn't it?

Hmmmm. Interesting. I think it is worth haggling with FJ and seeing what they can do for each individual case.

I guess there are a lot of affecting factors, age, number and type of vehicles, location, use of vehicles, users of the vehicles, how much you haggle etc etc.

Nothing is ever simple! I may have mislead you here. I have three separate policies all through FJ but they mirror the NCB throughout all three.

Footman James quoted me £628, £150 excess. :o :o :o

Then I noticed the typo they had made on my date of birth. Making me '33' not '23' requoted at £1,650 :'(

Again Elephant are the cheapest for somoene of my age, at £840 (Admiral renewal at £950)

I did try and get Footman James to honour the quote, especially as they rechecked the online form I submitted with the correct DOB in. But they didnt seem to like the idea of that.

If I buy a labrador, flat cap, get an orange badge, and one of Sy's special shiny metal walking frame things ;) then I may just qualify for a BRG ;D

I think the fact Romford is a grade E* (on a scale of A-F) of then thefts scale isn't helping much either.

Either way, insurance is down £300 this year, so im happy with that. 57 weeks until the Magical 25.. Well, today I got the unpleasant experience of an insurance renewal through from Carole Nash that was a good 50% increase over last year. I switched to them 2 years ago for a classic policy when it was around £180, then last year it jumped to about £350, and now £544. Someone is taking the mickey, thinks I.

Do the web/phone thing. Web sites seem to be pretty useless as any modification declaration (brakes, refreshed turbo, replacement shocks etc) just mean that 9/10 of insurers reject you out of hand.

Those that are quoting are coming in at around the £480 mark. This is pretty ridiculous. Philbo gives up on mainstream insurers, tries the classic specialists.

The golden nugget is Classic Line. 1500 limited mileage, £8000 suggested value with an agreed value to be arranged through Club Lotus, legal cover etc but no breakdown (no probs as I have other cover): £157. 35 year old in Surrey, garaged, new Thatcham 1 alarm & immobiliser installed 3 years ago.

Now that is more like it, and undercuts Carole Nash by £400. :-)

1500 miles goes a surprisingly long way on track...can always up the mileage if needs be.

Classic Line 01455 639000

Owned up to the mods as they stand. They didn't seem all that interested - classic car policies tend to be a lot more tolerant to parts "replacement" as it's expected that older cars will need maintenance.

I have 18 years NCB, but that's not a factor for a classic policy. Clean licences as well for wifey and me - though I had to declare 2 minor insurance claims last (one fault-free for me and another where the wife was at fault in her car).

Philbo,

Thanks for that number. Just rang them and there quoting £272 without using my no claims limited mileage of 4500 miles, £100 excess. There very good on mods that improve the car, but starts to go up when it comes to performance upgrades.
So thats better than FJ at £350 ;D

Forgot to ask will they cover u for trackdays.
